Hand Weaving inspired by Petroglyphs
The Neolithic and Bronze age people of our ancient landscapes were experts in arts and crafts which were inspired by their everyday working way of life an living on the land. Hunting, fishing and gathering plants for cooking were activities of both men and women. Our Wiltshire landscape is littered with chalk and flint so was a haven for these craftsmen who would make hand tools out of flint, stone and wood for building homes and used for useful everyday jobs. The following woven pieces are hand-woven on a hand-loom in natural yarns including, nettle, wool top, goat hair and sheep wool yarns. Hand-painted animal and bird motifs are see on the pockets of some garments.
